Travel through Saskatchewan’s past with this colourful Historic Saskatchewan pictorial wall map, produced for the province’s Golden Jubilee in 1955.
Created to celebrate Saskatchewan’s 50th anniversary as a province, the map illustrates important people, places, transportation routes and historical events. Highlights include explorers’ routes, North-West Mounted Police posts, fur-trading locations, early missions, railway development, Indigenous and settler history, and many Saskatchewan communities.
The map was designed by Saskatchewan government artist-draftsman A.W. Davey and printed as a colour lithograph with thin metal hanging strips. Reference examples measure approximately 36 × 24 inches; this example measures approximately 35 × 24 inches.

Condition
This map is in well-used, distressed vintage condition and is being sold as found.
There are extensive fold lines and creases throughout, along with edge wear, tears, small losses, staining and areas of separation. A larger tear is visible near the lower portion, and the corners and edges show considerable wear. The metal hanging strips remain present, although one end appears loose or damaged.
Despite the condition, the colours remain strong and the map retains considerable display appeal as a genuine piece of Saskatchewan history.
