1980 John G. Diefenbaker First Day Cover Lot of 4 – Saskatoon Day of Issue Cancel, Presented by Ray Hnatyshyn MP – Canada 17 Cent Stamp

A Saskatchewan-flavoured piece of Canadian political history. This lot of four first day covers marks the June 20, 1980 issue of Canada's 17-cent stamp honouring the Rt. Hon. John G. Diefenbaker (1895–1979), the Prince Albert MP who became Canada's 13th Prime Minister. Each cover carries the blue printed portrait cachet and the Saskatoon "Day of Issue" cancellation dated 80-06-20, and each was "Presented in memory of a great Canadian by Hon. Ray Hnatyshyn, M.P." – the Saskatoon MP who later became Governor General. One cover bears a single stamp; the other three each carry a block of four. A great lot for a Diefenbaker, Saskatchewan, or Canadian political memorabilia collector.
