Outstanding 1989 Jeux Canada Games Saskatoon pin collection displayed on its original bilingual “Pin ’Em Down / Tirez votre épingle des jeux” Petro-Canada Pin Trading Centre checklist sheet.

The original display identifies 97 different pins, their sponsors and the quantities originally produced. This collection contains an impressive 91 of the 97 pins, with only six missing: #6, #34, #35, #43, #46 and #89.

This is particularly interesting Saskatchewan memorabilia because the 1989 Canada Summer Games were held in Saskatoon, and many of the pins feature Saskatchewan companies, provincial imagery, Games mascots and major Canadian sponsors.

Sponsors represented include Air Canada, Campbell Soup, Canada Post, Coca-Cola, Federated Co-op, CP Rail, General Foods, Grand & Toy, Interbake Foods, Kodak Canada, Labatt, Mark’s Work Wearhouse, Petro-Canada, SaskTel, StarPhoenix, Timex and many others.

The collection also includes numerous colourful Jeux Canada Games ’89 mascot pins, provincial flag designs, sponsor pins, media pins and special Games designs.

Finding 91 different pins together with the original numbered trading-centre reference sheet makes this far more desirable than an ordinary mixed lot of Canada Games pins.

Condition

Pins appear to be in very good vintage condition overall, retaining strong enamel colours and attractive finishes.

The original paper display/checklist shows expected age and handling wear, including folds, wrinkles, small pin holes, staining/discolouration and old tape/tape residue. These imperfections actually help document how the sheet was originally used as a pin-trading display.

Collection is 91/97 complete. Missing pins are specifically #6, #34, #35, #43, #46 and #89.
