Antique James Hussey’s Spruce Beer Bottle – Olive Green Embossed Glass – Quebec

This one has a lot more age and character than the average soda bottle.

Antique dark olive-green glass bottle with heavy embossed lettering reading “James Hussey’s” and “Spruce Beer,” with additional lower embossing that appears to reference Quebec.

The tall cylindrical form, applied-looking dark lip, deep olive glass and raised lettering give it a strong late-19th/early-20th-century bottle-collecting look. I would describe it conservatively as an antique Canadian spruce beer bottle rather than assigning an exact production year without stronger documentation.

Spruce beer has a long history in Quebec, and vintage Quebec spruce-beer bottles remain a specialized bottle-collecting category. Comparable later Quebec spruce-beer bottles can be found around the $25 asking range, while rarity, age, embossing and maker can push older examples higher.

Condition

Antique pre-owned condition with surface scratches, scuffs, haze and age-related marks consistent with an old dug or stored bottle.

The embossing remains strong and readable. I do not see an obvious large crack or major missing section in the supplied photos, but old glass should always be examined closely in person.

Please review all photos carefully for exact condition.
