Real mail that flew on the first flights. This lot holds five genuine Canadian airmail first-flight covers from the pioneer days of flying the mail — three from the airport-opening summer of 1929 and two postwar first officials from 1947 — each with its printed flight cachet, correct airmail stamp, and clear postmarks front and back. The 1929 covers carry Canada's first airmail stamp, the 5¢ "Allegory of Flight"; the 1947 covers carry the beloved 7¢ Canada Goose. Also included are two modern printed collector cards from the Anthony R. Conyers airmail collection (Spirit of St. Louis 75th anniversary design) that came with the group. A ready-made starter collection of Canadian postal aviation history.
