Vintage 1930s Maling Peona 6504 Cobalt Blue Floral Plate – 10.5-Inch – England

Made in Newcastle-on-Tyne, England, the plate features large raised peony flowers in shades of pink, blue, yellow and amber, surrounded by bright green leaves and brown branches. The colourful floral decoration stands out beautifully against the deep cobalt-blue background.

Maling identified pattern 6504 as “Peona, dark blue,” and comparable pieces date from approximately 1934 to 1940.

With its generous size and striking relief decoration, this plate would make a lovely centrepiece on a table, displayed in a cabinet or mounted on a wall with an appropriate plate hanger.

Condition

Good antique condition with visible age-related wear.

The plate displays well, with strong colours and attractive raised floral details.

The underside shows noticeable glaze crazing consistent with age. There are light surface scratches, scuffs, small marks and minor areas of decoration wear. A small light-coloured surface mark is visible near the centre of the plate.

No obvious major chips, cracks or repairs are visible in the supplied photographs.
