An impressive archive of more than 80 original cancelled bank cheques connected to businesses, organizations and residents of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Dating primarily from 1945 and 1946, the cheques were issued through The Bank of Nova Scotia’s West Side Branch and appear to originate from Saskatoon Glass Co. Ltd. The collection includes payments made to numerous local businesses, organizations and individuals, creating a fascinating record of commercial life in postwar Saskatoon.

Many cheques retain their original three-cent Canadian excise stamps in several colours. Handwritten names, signatures, payment amounts, bank stamps and bold cancellation markings give every document its own historical character.

Condition

Fair to good vintage condition, with condition varying throughout the collection.

The cheques display age-related toning, folds, creases, edge wear, small tears, stains, handwriting, cancellation lines, bank stamps and other processing marks. Some documents have heavier wear or minor edge damage.

These markings are original to the cheques and form an important part of their history. Please review all photographs carefully for the overall condition and variety included.

Local pickup in Saskatoon is available by arrangement, and cash is accepted at pickup.

Shipping is available throughout Canada and the United States, calculated at checkout by the total weight of your order (Canada from $5, US from $18 — full rate chart in the shipping policy).

For shipped orders within Canada, payment is by Interac e-Transfer or PayPal. For US orders, payment is by PayPal. US buyers are responsible for any duties, tariffs, taxes, brokerage and import charges.

The collection will be packaged flat with protective backing to help prevent bending during transport.
