Very distinctive original encaustic beeswax painting by Saskatchewan artist Patrick W. Paul, from his Winston Collection.

The image depicts a quiet wetland scene with tall reeds, open water and two birds in flight, rendered in a cool blue-green palette. What makes this piece especially interesting is the medium: beeswax encaustic, a much less common painting technique than oil, acrylic or watercolor.

The original artist literature included with the piece explains that Paul deliberately chose beeswax as his medium and that he did not make prints or reproductions of his artwork, meaning each Winston Collection painting was intended as a unique original.

The reverse is handwritten “Original Patrick W. Paul” and includes the artist’s signed Winston Collection portfolio information.

Patrick Paul is documented as a Grand Coulee, Saskatchewan artist specializing in original Winston Collection encaustic beeswax paintings.
