A genuine piece of Canadian hotel and railway history. This vintage oval silverplate serving tray is stamped “Hotel Vancouver” on the face and dated 1938 on the underside. The ornate rolled and scrolled border gives it a beautiful Art Deco-era hotel-service look.
The 1938 date is particularly interesting: the present Hotel Vancouver was being completed during this period and opened in 1939 under a joint Canadian National/Canadian Pacific operation. Comparable Hotel Vancouver silverplate from this era is documented in Canadian railway-hotel collections.

Condition
Vintage used condition with considerable surface scratching, tarnish, plating wear and discoloration consistent with age and commercial hotel use. The underside shows heavier wear. Please review photos closely as they form part of the condition description. I would not polish this aggressively—the aged surface helps preserve its character.
