Bring a genuine piece of mid-century kitchen history into your collection with this vintage Mouli Julienne shredder and salad maker.

Made in France, this hand-operated kitchen tool was designed to grate, shred and slice everything from cheese and vegetables to fruit and citrus peel. Its clever interchangeable-disc system offered several food-preparation options without electricity—a practical design that once earned a place in countless family kitchens.

This example includes the original all-metal Mouli Julienne unit, its distinctive red wooden crank knob, four interchangeable cutting discs and the wonderfully graphic triangular cardboard box. The packaging includes instructions and cutting-disc information in both English and French, along with the Toronto address of the Canadian distributor.

A handwritten label inside the lid reads “1954,” suggesting the set may date from approximately that year. The mustard-yellow packaging, period illustrations and bold black lettering give it excellent display appeal.

Whether displayed in a retro kitchen, added to a vintage utensil collection or used as an authentic prop, this is a memorable survivor from the days when kitchen tools were built from steel and powered by hand.

Condition

Vintage pre-owned condition with substantial age-related wear.

The metal shredder and discs show scratches, tarnishing, discoloration and areas of oxidation consistent with age and previous storage. The red wooden handle has noticeable paint loss and wear.

The original cardboard box has heavy edge wear, crushing, separated or weakened seams, tears, staining, old tape and lifted flaps. Despite this wear, the illustrations and most printed information remain clearly visible.

The turning mechanism moves, but the unit has not been tested with food. Anyone intending to use it should inspect and thoroughly clean the components first. It may be best suited to collecting, display or photography.

Please examine all photographs carefully. They form an important part of the condition description.
