Saskatoon as it was — one big fold-out city map from the years when the Sheraton Cavalier was the shiny new tower downtown and the city proudly called itself "the Potash Capital of the World." The cover carries a period photo of the Sheraton Cavalier with 1970s cars at the curb and the original $1.00 price. Opened up, this is the full City of Saskatoon planning map: every street with a complete alphabetical index, the transit system routes drawn in red (including the 8th Street express and the River Heights extension), parks and open spaces in blue, schools and collegiates listed, and an inset map of the University of Saskatchewan campus. A wonderful snapshot of the city before decades of suburbs — frame it, or just lose an afternoon finding your old street.
