A classic vintage Salter Maxim No. 120 mechanical kitchen scale, made in England and finished in a warm cream colour with green detailing.

The large front dial is easy to read and measures in both pounds/ounces and kilograms/grams, making this a practical vintage kitchen piece as well as an attractive display item. The scale has a maximum capacity of 10 lb / 4.5 kg, with 1 oz / 25 g graduations shown on the face.

The upper tray is marked “MAXIM 120”, while the dial is clearly marked “Salter – Made in England.” The underside is also marked with a British registered design number and “Not Legal for Trade.”

Salter is one of the best-known British names in weighing equipment, with a history stretching back to the 18th century. This later Maxim model has the clean, functional styling associated with British household products of the mid-to-late 20th century.

A great piece for a retro kitchen, baking display, farmhouse pantry or collection of vintage British kitchenware.

Condition

Good vintage condition with visible age and previous-use wear.

There are surface marks, scratches, staining, dust and general discoloration to the cream finish and weighing tray. The dial remains clear and readable, and the plastic cover appears intact.

As shown in the photographs, the pointer responds when weight is placed on the tray. However, because this is an older mechanical scale, exact calibration and weighing accuracy are not guaranteed.

Please review all photographs carefully as they form part of the condition description.
