Vintage Vivitar Auto Thyristor 283 Camera Flash – 3.5" x 6.5"

Vintage Vivitar Auto Thyristor 283 electronic camera flash, one of Vivitar’s best-known classic flash units from the film photography era.

This example is clearly marked Vivitar Model 283 and was distributed in Canada by Precision Camera of Canada (1964) Ltd., Montreal, Quebec. It features the adjustable flash head, front automatic exposure sensor and attached synchronization cord.

Condition

Good vintage cosmetic condition with normal wear from age and previous use.

There are scratches, scuffs, dust and general surface wear to the black housing. The flash lens appears intact, and the controls and attached cord are present.

Untested. Working condition is unknown and it is being sold as-is as a vintage photography collectible/accessory.
